We gave up using Facebook and its related services for Lent since we're uselessly spending most of our time on it. It was a "wrong move" at first because facebook connects us easily to our families and friends back home. It was a bit lonely without it/ them. But between giving up food and social media, I would rather eat my feelings than post it online. Friends and families who really matter or who are genuinely interested with our lives will surely find ways to get in touch with us anyway.
We are now over a month without Facebook and our lives are pretty much happier. We have spent more time with each other and less time browsing our gadgets and virtually stalking other people. We appreciate more what we actually have and to a lesser extent want less of what everybody else has because we realized that we have more than what we really need. There's some sort of irrelevant comparison that happens when you see too much of other people's lives posted online that makes you feel that you didn't accomplish anything at all. I guess even after Easter, there'll be lesser use of Facebook or maybe just finally let go of it. I still have other apps anyway. :)
