Joomajam Time

We found out about this music driven and multilingual app for kids from a mommy that I follow on Instagram. We downloaded it, joined their contest and won a voucher where we were able to unlocked other lessons.

 My little one really likes it because there's free Tagalog lessons about colors and numbers. She is now very curious to learn her Mother language (the one we were supposed to teach her from the very start but our living situation is always changing and is better to learn to speak differently to avoid confusion) .  She is learning it faster because of the catchy songs and adorable visuals. I'm hooked on it too because there other languages of each lessons available that I can learn with my daughter. I like the app too because you can set the time to allow your kid to use it.

This is now my "go to app" for my little one to use to have my free time without the guilt. 

The Little One Is Always Right

Our little one has learned to prove that she is right, always right, by using tangible proofs and facts (facts according to me). It is exhausting, sometimes annoying but most of the time really entertaining. She also makes the cutest comebacks a 3 (and 8 months) old can make. Myabe she'll be a good lawyer someday.

Here are my (our) favorites:

1.) "See?!", while showing me a video or book to prove that she is right.

2.) " 'Di ba, Mom, (fill in her point of view or a quote from me here).." (Isn't it mom...), while trying to disprove anything that her Dad says.

3.) "Papa, yesterNIGHT, not yesterday because it was evening. There's no sun."

4.) "Mama, it's Papa's day off. It is my holiday. There's no school. I'll take a bath when we have school, okay?!"

5.) "Mama, lets share because we are bestfriends, 'di ba!?" , when she likes something I have no intention of sharing with her.

6.) "Mom, don't be angry to me and Papa. Is that the way to talk to your baby?"

I can't wait 'til she grows up and be able to read these funny things she says.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit According to an Almost 2 year Old

My little one's current favorite story is the Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. We've been reading it for the past weeks and she never seem to get tired of it. Before her morning nap, I would read it to her and she would interrupt me with her own interpretation of the images of the book. I think we have another version of this story.

Here it goes:

"Mama bag."

"Mouse run." (My little one thinks the bunny is a mouse.)

"Mouse eat. Bird."

"Mouse run."

"Mama (referring to me), boom."

"Uh-oh."

"Mouse. Bird. Tweet. Tweet."

"Mouse hide."

"Kah- kah." , while touching her chest. (It means she's scared)

"Hmmmm.", while smelling the flowers.

"Cat. Meow."

"Mama cook."

"Sleep na."

It's so amazing that she can already understand pictures and make her own story. 

DIY: Molding Clay

When the safest way to get out of the house is when you have a husband to drive you, you have to learn to make things that you need with what you have inside the house at the moment so you don't have to wait til your husband gets home to get things done.

Our need for the moment was something to play with that the little one can cut with her plastic knife.  I know this need can technically wait. But a toddler with a PMSing mom, waiting is not an option. She's been playing "cut, cut, cut" with her oatmeal cookies. It's such a shame to play with and throw the perfectly baked cookies I made the night before. And it's tiring to sweep the floor with her mess. So I decided to make clay. Good thing I browsed through DIY boards on Pinterest. They have tons of nice DIY stuff I would like to try making -- and clay/ play dough was one of them.

Just mix the following ingredients and you're done.
1/2 cup flour
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1-2 Tbsp water

Just add a little more flour if the clay mixture is too sticky or water if it's too tough. This will look better if I have some food coloring. I like this recipe since it's easy to make, play with and does not stick to our furniture.

Power Failure and MyNatnat

Let me just start that I have the best baby ever! I am biased of course.

It was the first time we had experienced a problem with electricity here in the Kingdom. There's seldom or close to none brownouts here. But for some odd reason, our building is the lone area that suffer power outage. It was going as high as 47 degrees lately and you could only imagine the discomfort and annoyance this has brought me. But my little one seems to understand that any tantrum from her would cause me to breakdown. She was well behaved the entire 12hours without light and AC. She even slept without a fuss on our very hot room and outside under the midnight sky. (Daddy decided to just camp out since it was really too hot to sleep indoors.)

My little one is the typical toddler -- playful, clingy, noisy, sweet, picky eater, etc. But I really have to give a big shout out to her for choosing to be the sweetest and most wonderful baby when everything else seems to be falling apart. (Yes, no AC on a 45 degree weather is just like end of the world for me.) She brought entertainment while we picnicked outside. She was dancing and singing all the time. She slept early while Daddy and Mommy take turns in checking her back and to fan her. (until daddy decided that we should just sleep outside so we both could rest too). I could not ask for anything more.

Thank you, sweetheart for always choosing to be nice when it's easiest to be grumpy. 

Child Prodigies and Aliens

My aunt grandma (seems like an aunt but technically my grandma) once told us about how her other grandson, who is 2 1/2 years old, can tell amazing stories and answers back in the weirdest and cutest ways. I dont know exactly how or what is amazing in the stories but I kinda get the point. My 22 months old daughter is already narrating how the cow pooped or how big her poop is. Amazing isn't it. Lol. I can't remember or heard any adult telling me of  any narrative I said younger than 3 years old.
Aunt grandma also pointed out how different the children nowadays. They seem to be more precocious, more advance in language (more of constructing sentences or making stories than the fluency of spoken words), has early grasp of computer/ technology manipulation, and so on. There must be something in the air they breathe that made these advances possible.  Pollution? Or maybe in the things they eat (or I ate since I'm STILL breastfeeding)? 'Magical formula' in formula milk? Hidden messages in Disney and Pixar movies? Alien invasion through children via Mommy's womb? Genetic evolution? (Whatda? I don't even know what that means.) Whatever it is, these prodigies and 'genius' children have contributed to my amusement and amazement. With my little one's limited exposure to everything in general, I really don't know where she got those dancing moves, artistic drama, smart remarks or knowledge of smartphones. These changes in children (nowadays) might have its higher purpose - to cope up with the changing times and advancement in technology. I guess, they just don't want to be left behind.

Or they are really aliens in human life forms. (enter X-Files opening theme song)

Regal

If I were to be a royalty for a day, I would choose to be Queen Rania of Jordan or Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. It is not really their roles and titles I wish for but their beauty and class. (Their duties and responsibilities as royalties are too much for me to handle... I'd rather be a "commoner".) Their style are so simple yet glamorous, modest and timeless --- always so regal.

sleepless nights

I realized some new moms don't get to sleep through the night because they are too amused and amazed watching their babies sleep.

With a baby like ours, who would even blink to miss these?

I have read that baby's sleeping position can predict her personality. Babies who sleep on their side with arms down to his side like a log can be a happy-go-lucky type and very sociable. Babies who look like a starfish when they sleep are very helpful and uncomfortable being center of attention. Babies who sleep on one side with arms in front are said to be suspicious. Babies who sleep like a soldier tend to become the reserved and quiet type. Babies who sleep on their tummies are more susceptible to SIDS.

So does this mean my baby has multiple personality? She can sleep in different positions in one night. LOL.

My sweetheart, mommy will never get tired of watching you sleep or figuring you out. Mommy & Daddy loves you... whatever you become in the future.

Bond, James Bond

Did i tell you that double-0-seven was on my bed?


Oh no..not james bond...



I wish! lol.

It was just the number/identification of the stuff I left on the package counter when I went to the supermarket. Well, i forgot to get back my stuff after I did my shopping thus bringing the number at home. It took me a day or two to find out that the number is still inside my bag. And I was too busy to go back to the supermarket to re-claim my stuff. Good thing, nothing was really valuable in there. I was able to get my stuff after a week, in the same condition as I have left it... at no cost.

But I wish it was really James Bond that i brought home.
